Still Alive!

Boy I am truly sorry it has been quite some time since my last post and so much has happened!  New grand baby, my son leaving home and moving away, and traveling to take my son a car being that his truck barely got him to Provo Utah.
We took my son our classic car so that he can get around as his truck broke down and needs lots of repairs!  So today I am just sharing a few pictures of that trip and the car we took him.  Utah was just beautiful and we crossed 4 state lines in 2 days, lost 2 tires on the truck! and got back home with a whole $ 9.00!  That car my son is standing in front of is a rare car! New Grand Baby and What I am working on for Tuesday Sept 16, 2014

Daddy, Joey and Zoey and below is grandpa holding Zoey!
Love this picture of grandpa and Joey with the new baby!

Good morning to all! I hope you have a wonderful day!
I have been quite busy with my daughter having her second child another little girl named Zoey! Welcome Zoey!
She was born Sept 2, 2014 and weighed 6 pounds 11 ounces and 18 inches long
Right now she is doing well at home and has lots of love around her.  The pictures I am sharing are of Joey, daddy and grandpa holding Zoey.

Yesterday I was teaching me how to make felt flowers and the flower is a blue rose I was creating and teaching myself.  I think I will give a tutorial on how I did this rose a little later on and maybe I show how to make a different flower I have a few ideas running around in my head for creating felt flowers.  This one is one you could tie around your wrist I am using felt and ribbon, thread and a heavy duty glue.    I have my stores closed for a bit because I need to help a little with the grand baby and my son will be leaving and moving away so I have to help a little there also, it has been a little tough the past few weeks as its been very dry here on the Oregon coast which I think this is the driest summer I have seen since I move here in 1985.  Its been so dry there has been no work for my husband and son and I can't believe I have actually been hoping and praying for rain! yikes!  Why do I say yikes well winters here is nothing but rain, rain, rain, and more rain.  I have loved the hot summer here but it does come with a few set backs.  I am doing a vote for yea or nay on a tutorial on how to make this felt rose just leave a comment in the comments  and I might even pick someone to win the felt rose! if I get lots of comments!

Baking Blue Berry Muffins with a Butter Milk Pancake Mix

Howdy to all! I hope you have a great weekend!  Once again I was playing around in the kitchen wondering what on earth to do with the fresh blue berries?  I did not have any baking soda or powder in the house and the berries were going to spoil....
I did have a butter milk pancake mix and began to think I bet I could make muffins the dough would rise well with out the soda or powder.
I took 3-4 cups of the buttermilk mix, 2 eggs, and 1 1/2 cup of sugar, a tsp of lemon and a table spoon of sour cream, 4 cups of fresh blue berries, mixed it and then added water until the dough folded together and was somewhat thick like regular blue berry muffin mix or bread.  The Muffins came out quite good and I got 24 muffins!  Sorry about the picture with my blood pressure medication in the back round.   They baked about 30 min at 340 degrees and I took them out of the oven and added some sweet real butter to the muffin for my hubby in the picture below!
It was a good way to use the blue berries and easy when you don't have any baking soda or baking powder in the house.  Just had to show one of my babies, Ruffles she is being so cute here and she is getting old she is the only old member of the house now and she loves laps and heating pads to lay on, she is 9 years old now!

Time for a Recipe! Homemade Salsa Dip

I just love this recipe because you can also freeze it for days later.  I have not done a new recipe for a long time so thought it was about time to share something new in cooking!
so this is what you will need:
2 cans of Garlic fire roasted chopped tomatoes
1 can of black beans
1 can of corn
1/2 cup of chopped yellow onion
1/2 cup of sliced Mango frozen Mango works the best
1 1/2 cups of Cilantro
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp of Cayenne pepper
Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl starting first with the tomatoes and adding the peppers last mix well do not drain any of the canned items.  You can make this hotter by adding more Cayenne pepper or a Jalapeno pepper sliced up!  You can also add different kinds of beans along such as white beans or pinto beans.  You can freeze it also up to 2 weeks in a freezer just place into a freezer container and thaw when you are ready to use it.   This is what I do because this recipe makes quite a lot so I freeze about half and  put the rest into a container in the refrigerator.
I love it because its an easy way to get some yummy salsa quick!

Nothing but Tooth Problems

Boy is this picture correct!
It's been a tough week!
Friday was my oral operation to have a tooth that was ugly, rotten, nasty, mean, evil and now is finally gone but its looks as though the top tooth is decided to cause problems.....
and you should see my husband!.....
yikes! today was an emergency call to the dentist for his teeth he is having tooth problems seems like the teeth in both our mouths decided to have a revolution at the same time!
Hubby is so bad that I had to race out and find clove oil and put it on a cotton ball to help the blood curdling pain.....
Holly cow! clove oil does not taste delightful, hubby put that in his mouth turned white as ghost and fell to the couch to lay down and .....stink..... blah!....blah!

I and hubby have 2 mouths full of cavities! how on earth did this happen?  You also notice when you get older you don't tolerate pain as well as when say you were 12 to 18 years of age! those days are long gone down that dirt road....
Who would have thought ! ..... guess I know a whole lot better! this has been one heck of lesson these past few weeks!

What I am Working on a Whacked Out Folk Art Quilt using my Landscape Photos

This will be a wall hanging quilt and its one of favorite ways of quilt making, which is called whacking.  I am whacking out the decor around the photo which is one of my nature or landscape photos.

I printed the photo on fabric and began adding the sides and top, then I decided to add the leaves, which are cut from felt. The trees are also being cut out free hand using no patterns but just cutting the fabric and the trees are a pretty brown decorative felt.
I am adding all kinds of different designs of stitches from my Brother Sewing Machine
This is a close up of one of trees and the design in the felt, I creating the quilt on the sewing machine because I love crafting quilts using the machine it is just lots of fun for me and I am using a white cotton thread just because I wanted quite a lot of contrast in the leaves and trees.
I cut small squares for the top and altered the squares, down below is more of the trees and leaves as I am adding them.  I soon will add the backing which will be a dark orange-brown and I have also signed the photo and put the year it was made on it.  I am not using any stabilizer because the felt does not need it.  I love working with my photos and the felt and I plan on doing a few more quilts like this one and some that will just use some great great I have been working on.

A Little Something for Mother's and Mothers Day

Oh boy! I am running way behind so I thought I better get busy and do something for Mother's Day. I decided to paint this little chalkboard of a little owl, who is a mother and a baby bee and larger child bee and I guess I was thinking about being different in that moms are many different things and this little owl and decided to adopt abandoned bee's and raise them.  I guess I was thinking about nature and how sometimes there are odd ball friendships in animals and I thought why couldn't a little owl raise a couple of busy bee's.  I admit my thinking was strange but I think mom can be anything, do so much and lots of love to give!   I did paint in the acrylics and and I wrote a few things that moms are to their children or in this case how these little busy bee's feel about their mother the wise little owl.

In the second picture is my grand baby girl Joey celebrating that big TWO birthday and I just love the look on her face in this photo, I have been sharing it lots and there is so much said in the look she is giving everyone!  So here she is again....
Joey I love your look....HOORAY FOR TURNING 2!!

Crafting Tuesday, What I am working on,

Yes I am still painting away!  I did a small painted chalk board and I am painting on a red tin box.   I am using oil based acrylics.  The chalk board is for Mother's day and tin box is just for spring or summer time.  I am learning some about painting on tin, its a bit harder to with with the paint, it needs quite a bit of building up as you go along so I am having to stop and let the paint dry very dry before I can paint on it again otherwise the paints just seem to smear around on the tin box.
The chalk board was a bit easier to do and I have done several times and love how each one has turned out; I like how the acrylics pop a bit on the chalk board I think that' the biggest reason why I love painting on the chalk boards.

Two New Finished Painted Wooden Trays A few Crows and Some Happy Little Pigs

Good Afternoon to everyone! I hope Easter brought lots of family and friends together, mine was quiet with a simple brunch out at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Arnies-Cafe/330351107006
Oh my goodness is the food there wonderful! it is my favorite place to eat! most we go for breakfast because their breakfast is just so YUM!
I have just finished painting these two small wooden trays with oil based acrylics and the designs are mine and were created freehand so I can't duplicate exactly the same.  I love crows there is so many fun ways to draw a crow! and these two are for celebrating the 4th of July.  I found the trays in a second hand store and they had nothing on them so I thought they would make cute home decor for summer and the 4th of July.  You can't eat off of them now because of acrylics and the sealer which is an acrylic sealer applied after the paint dried for a couple of days.  I love the dark wood it made the acrylic paints just pop! I think.  This is my very first time drawing pigs and they came not to bad, it was lots of fun to look at lots photos of pigs and come up with two of my very own!
Today I am working on finishing a wall hanging quilt and I am thinking about doing a giveaway around the middle of May.  I am also working on a doll and more painting a few different items that I will be sharing soon with you all.
