My Very Cute Cloth dolls

I have always loved cloth dolls!

I started at very young age making cloth dolls, I was about 12 years of age when I sewed my first cloth doll with my moms help. After that I was hooked!

My favorite cloth is vintage...

I love finding old patterns of days long gone and creating dolls that have not been around for a while. In fact right now I am working a 26 inch cloth doll from 1968. The pattern is a reprint of the pattern but it works....

I look for vintage patterns through ebay, garage sales, second hand stores or any where I can.

I love going into the past, after all where would we all be if there was no past?

One of my favorite dolls that I have made up is a 1928 Gingham doll. What was so interesting was using the gingham for eyes and the face was done by hand with cotton floss.

I used a blue Gingham for the dress, boots and hat. Next I used cotton muslin for the body. The hair is a dark red yarn. I love her because she is a small, but simple doll.

Sometimes I will mix up the patterns of cloth dolls just to give the doll a whole new look....

For instance I might use the pattern of a body from one doll and the head from another pattern. Or just take the pattern and give it an entire new look. I have done so with the picture below. It was to plain, so I took bright colors, different yarn, staining, different legs and got this look.

The legs and arms are from another pattern, I used some wild but colorful yarn for her hair. She is stained with walnut stain, the mouth is done with black cotton floss. It gave the vintage pattern a whole new look!

Sometimes I will not even use a pattern! I will just start cutting with an idea in mind and come up with something like this next doll....

I had some Denim fabric that looked as if it had been bleached out! Cool I thought and I decided it should be this rag cloth doll rabbit. No patterns were used just a lot of imagination! I just began cutting and designed this 18 inch sitting rabbit. I also stained the fabric with walnut stain to help along that old look. His face is done with pink floss and filled with fiber fill!
To me each of my dolls has its own personality! and that for me is all the fun in creating cloth dolls!
I think cloth dolls is a lost art, and so I feel its important to keep imagintation alive as well as the past remembered.

Quick meal idea, take 2 large cans of either roast beef or canned chicken, or left over meats, chopped onion, chopped celery, corn, small can of potatoe soup, small can of mushroom soup, green beans mix all together. Pour into 9x11 greased baking dish. Now mix 1 1/2 cup milk, 1 egg, Bisquick baking mix. Mix well. Pour over top of chicken mixture and bake at 350 for 35-40 OR until done.

Peanut Butter Pecan Fudge

This recipe is a simple!
Fudge for Valentines Day....
Peanut Butter Pecan Fudge...
What you will need:
One jar Vanilla Frosting
One jar of Marsh Mellow creme
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of peanut butter
2 cups of chopped pecans
1 cup sweet milk
Mix Frosting, Marsh mellow creme, sugar, peanut butter, sweet milk, in a sauce pan on the stove heat until all the ingredients are melted and mixed, bring to a light boil. Always stirring mixture.
Remove and mix in 1 cup of pecans. Saving the other cup to top the fudge.
Pour into 8x8 greased pan now pour the rest of the pecans on top and let cool....
Now cut into squares!

I love to work with pre-fabricated wooden items

I love getting pre-fabricated wooden items and seeing all that I can do with them. I have brought door knob hangers, hang bags and boxes to add all my touches.
On this first one I just went wild, mixing paints coming with the idea of aged, old, rough looking box for jewelery.


I used several paints and did a bit of sloping the paint onto the box. I used some great paper and some cute little critters, but the final touch is the cording that is around the top. This old Hen house came out quite cute.
In the next picture I will be showing is a pre-fabricated wooden handbag that I used red, browns and a bit of black acrylic paints. Yes when painting I use only the acrylics and use good sealers.


I would add only a touch of black then wipe it off with a rag, add some browns, wipe, then my red and oranges each time wiping away the access paint. I let the handbag dry good for a few days before adding the stickers. Then again letting the handbag sit for a day before adding any sealers.
It all takes a bit of practice before getting the right look you want, but you can have lots of fun getting there and using all kinds of ideas for this type of wood.

A very Merry Christmas!
May all your homes have many blessings.
I guess I will write about what Christmas is, yes it about the birth of our Savior but is also about the wonderful things he did apon this earth and the one thing that really stands for me is the charity he had for all.
So I guess my Christmas wish this year is for more charity for everyone.
I mean chairty does have to be something done thats giantic but instead, something little or small.
I will give some examples of what I mean.....
Walk in the store smiling at all you meet
Ask someone how are they?
Wish someone a Merry Christmas
Donate food to a food bank
Make a treat for your neighbor
Pick a child's name off the Christmas tree in your bank, store etc and buy that child a gift.
Let someone go ahead of you in the line at the store
Wish the clerk in the store a Merry Christmas
Donate a bag of cat food or dog food to animals in a shelter, after all they need lots of love and chairty.
Open the door for someone
Have patienice standing in a long line, visit with the person in front or behinde you
Tell a family member how special they are, or a friend
Most of remember charity in your own home with family

Charity is just little things, but imagine how different things would be if all of us would just do these little things....
Imagine how just that little amount of charity might mean to someone else....
I know when we have true charity in hearts, we will be blessed in so many ways. And with this I say may your home be filled with all kinds of blessings, again....
