Small Easter Basket and a Big Egg, a finished idea for the Easter holidays

Happy Sunday to everyone!  I wanted to share a project I just finished a few days ago, it's a small Easter basket with an egg in it.  This project was lots of fun to do and simple.  What I did was to use an oatmeal container, cotton fabric, paper mache egg, acrylic paints, scrap book decorations, ribbon, heavy duty glue.

First off I cut the oat meal container in half and cut the floral cotton fabric to fit around the container, so I double the fabric to make it round the fabric and then I cut the container down more and  saved the excess for the handle.  I will do more of tutorial on creating this cute idea in about a week or less.  This will be a no sew project and fairly simple craft idea to do up.    The egg was painted and then I added a little bit of stain to it with some acrylic paint.  The butterflies are scrap book decorations that I found in the craft store in the  scrap book section in Joann's fabric store.  You know this decor can be for anything during spring not just Easter.  I have added this project to the Etsy store It's Just Frankly Kute and I am still working on the new quilt and should have it done soon.

New Finished, Cloth Doll Libby Long Arms

This past week I have been working and crafting new things and one of my favorites is the new doll I have come up with; meet Libby Long Arms.  I made my own pattern for this doll and designed her to have extra long arms for cuddling.  I have made her from cotton fabrics and stained the body with acrylic paints, cinnamon and instant coffee.  Her facial features are hand painted on by me using my acrylic paints.   I have use a heavy cotton/wool yarn for the hair and hand sewed it into the head of the doll using a durable thread.  The out fit is simple I did sew on my sewing machine and then did some gathering by hand, adding buttons to the dress

I love making dolls I am now working on a 40 inch doll a big doll for my store and will be sharing how I am doing with that.  I have also created a cute bear, some silly chickens, I will share those shortly also, I have done a couple tutorial's on making Easter primitive bunnies and changing a paper mache egg into a chicken, be sure to check out my YouTube channel and I will be adding some free patterns one will be a bear and the pattern to make the bunnies!

What I am Working on for Sunday March 16th 2014

Yes I am still doing some crocheting I just finished this small set of of little coin purse and two small bowls.  One is round and the other is a bit square.  I am using a very small crochet hook, a rayon blend yarn with a cotton blend yarn.  I did a chain stitch to create all three items and did a double stitch, using a decrease and single stitch to shape the little coin purse, make the round little bowl.  On the square bowl I just began crocheting a square and then decreasing a stitch at the top to get the side to stand up and form the bowl.  On the purse I doubled up on the yarn for the outer edging using a cotton blend yarn and the rayon both on my crochet hook.  The final touches the little strap for the purse and a latch to button up the coin purse.  I am now working on some chickens using paper mache' eggs and recycling an oatmeal container into a basket and will share that a little later on.   In April I am going to have a giveaway! and it should be lots of fun!

Oh My Hair is Longer and Fun

Hi everyone today I am way off topic but if one thinks about it one could call this hair crafting.  I am just so excited to finally have my hair long enough to create and craft some neat do's.  Today you can do so much with braids! make them messy and lived in!  So that is what I have been doing, some of might have seen these pictures already on face book.  I just thought I would share them one more time.  I really love the fact that the beehive is back and some older hair do's  The top picture is actually just a french braid that I pulled lose and added strands of hair through the braid making as messy as I could get it.  The second picture is a beehive that I did up and the last pictures are dutch braids that have been pulled and massaged out.   What's even more amazing I never could braid when I was younger and now that I am older I have learned the dutch braid, fish tail, water fall braid, french braid and few other types of braid, such the crochet braid and there more types of braids everyday,  I think being older and more patient is why I can braid now! So I am just having a with fun sharing oh my hair is longer!

Baking Dark Chocolate Cookies, Pop- a - Doodle, and Crocheting

Hope the weekend is fun and enjoyable for you!
Today thought I would share what I was doing a few days back when it was raining cats and dogs here on the Oregon coast ( excuse the silly joke)  Any whooooo! now I sound an owl
I decided to do some baking while we were getting the 8 inches of rain and I found I had a box of dark chocolate cake mix that was for Christmas time; that I did not use so I thought make dark chocolate cookies!
I took the box and mixed one cup of butter and one egg to get the dough for cookies and I think you can still get dark cake mix in the store, this mix just happened to be for Christmas but I think there is a dark chocolate cake mix in stores all the time, that's what I am trying to say in a round about way.  Next I used some Raspberry Jello and sugar and mixed the sugar and dry jello together.  I rolled about 1 1/2 balls, then rolled them in the sugar mixture and mashed them down slightly with a fork and baked at 325 degrees for 25 minutes or until done. I used about a 1/4 cup of sugar and 2 table spoons of the jello for the mixture.  My hubby just loved the cookies.

 I just had to share a picture of Pop a Doodle on the rainy day! he was just watching me crochet away as we were watching a really good spooky movie! Don't he look all nice and warm!

Working on Some Spring Time Projects

 I just finished this pretty crochet project a large doily that I designed on my very own.  Its made with no patterns but just an idea I have in my head.  I used a double stitch and chained some stitches along with a few decrease stitches.  It measures 17 inches so its a large doily and I will be starching shortly.  Its a white cotton yarn I am using with small glitter sparkles in it.  the hook was a 4.25 mm hook.

This Chicken bowl or Boat I have not quite decided what to call it yet but I am thinking hard about it, is all my very own idea.  I created the pattern, choose the fabric and sewed it all up on my sewing machine.  I am using some wonderful heavy cotton quilting fabric with some really bright designs on it.  the head is quilting batting like warm and natural and there is a bit of fiber fill in the head.  the rest is felt and a bit more cotton fabrics that made a good contrast.  There are 2 little eggs in or on the back of the chicken and they are also quilting batting, filled with fiber fill.  So yup I have finally gotten busy crafting, there just has been so much going on, a wedding that will be Dec 11th and another grand baby is on the way plus some really strange weather on the Oregon coast, which I am sure most of you all have been in some wild weather too... seems its going on all over.  Today my hubby is home early because they all got rained out I think we have gotten about 8 inches of rain in 2 days and finally just a bit ago the wind finally calmed down enough that the Internet is staying on.
Right now I am doing some more crocheting, and yes its going to be another really large doily or decor for a chair I will have to see how far I can get with the yarn and I share that with you all a little later.  I am sorry I did not get a thing done for Valentine's day but I am working on a few things for next year and I am working towards Easter!! and Spring.
